Next Kraftwerke signed the first national framework agreement for flexible capacity with the Dutch grid operators.
With this contract, we are making 180 MW of flexible generation capacity available for congestion management, enabling our customers to derive more value from their assets. This is an important step in increasing flexibility in the Dutch electricity grid and accelerating the energy transition. The framework agreement will be included in GOPACS, making the capacity immediately available nationwide. Initially, it involves generation capacity from solar parks at medium voltage levels, where a large part of the solution for congestion lies.
"We are proud that we can contribute to a more stable and efficient energy grid with this framework agreement," says Mark Lindenberg, CSO at Next Kraftwerke. "Through our expertise as Balance Responsible Party, Balancing Service Provider, and Congestion Service Provider, we can help owners of renewable energy sources to optimally benefit from their assets. With this contract, we can quickly and efficiently add flexibility to the grid."
Due to new regulations, grid operators can request individual asset owners to provide congestion services. Next Kraftwerke takes this process off their hands. By coordinating with the grid operators on their behalf, asset owners can focus on their core activities while we ensure smooth integration into the electricity grid.
