As of 01.08.2024, Marc Ruehs will succeed Hendrik Sämisch as CEO of Next, one of the largest renewable energy traders in Germany, strengthening the leadership team alongside Katrin Jedamzik and Mark Lindenberg, both members of the management board.
Marc Ruehs has been with Shell since 2005, with positions in Germany, the Netherlands, Brazil and most recently in the USA, where he served as Manager of Origination West at Shell Energy North America, playing a key role in building an innovative green energy portfolio.
Regarding his new role, Marc Ruehs states: "Joining Next is a natural continuation of my work and efforts over the last few years. I have been following the development of Next Kraftwerke for some time and am deeply impressed by what the company and Hendrik Sämisch have achieved over the last 15 years. Being part of one of Europes largest aggregators of renewable energies, shaping the next phase actively, fills me with great anticipation.”
The founder of Next Kraftwerke, Hendrik Sämisch, is stepping down after 15 years at the helm of the company at the end of July. "I have had an incredibly exciting and great time here at Next,” said Hendrik Sämisch, outgoing CEO. “With a great team, we have achieved a lot - built up the company and helped shape the energy transition. I would now like to take a break after these intensive 15 years - which is why I am stepping down as CEO."
In early 2023, long-time employees Katrin Jedamzik and Mark Lindenberg took on leadership responsibilities and have since jointly run the business with Mr Sämisch. They intend to continue Next Kraftwerke’s journey in line with the founders’ vision. Katrin Jedamzik: "I have known Next since 2009 and have been involved in business development from the very beginning. We are committed to the team and our customers to ensure that Next Kraftwerke continues to pursue its vision: an energy supply based on 100 percent renewable energies.”
Jedamzik and Lindenberg welcome the closer cooperation with parent company Shell. As Mark Lindenberg outlines: "Collaboration with Shell has intensified over the past two years. Many important projects, such as the trading of the HKN wind farm or the Witznitz solar farm, have become possible because we have combined our expertise and created synergies. With Marc, this connection becomes even tighter, allowing us to act faster, more efficiently, and more focused overall."
